A foray into fashion research

This article ( Bridging measurement and cultural interpretation) was recently published in the the journal Critical Studies In Mens´ Fashion. It´s theme is the gap that exists between how a garment (in this case men´s underwear) are understood in simple terms by consumers and the designer´s multivariate way of conceiving them. Internet sales present a huge choice in underwear that must be decoded; the designer has control over many more factors than just waist size, fabric and colour. This article may be of use to a fashion designer seeking to actively consider the variables and what they mean. It also suggests that packaging needs to make more effort to explain what the product is meant to be.
