Weber, R. (2012). Introduction to the Special Issue: Aesthetics & Design!?. Empirical Studies of the Arts, 30(1), 3-6. Tag: aesthetics, design research. In this item we can read this: “It will be a long process before practitioners begin to accept and perhaps even apply the results of scientific research to their daily practice because there is still a visible schism between practitioners and theorists.” Weber is referring to aesthetics research here, but we see the same phenomenon in other areas. “It is the designers who have the pressing questions, it is the aestheticians who have the tools and methods to look for possible answers. There needs to be better communication between the two” (p.4).
